Located approximately 20 miles south of Kota Kiabalu, the park boasts Proboscis monkeys, deer, Sumatran rhinoceros, Gibbons, tigers, orange orangutans, elephants and a broad range of bird species. Both parks are open year-round and tours are available for those who prefer guided excursions.

Kota Kinabalu is a wise vacation destination for travelers who enjoy cultural attractions. For example, almost any vacationer will be impressed with the Green Connection Aquarium and the Sabah State Museum. In addition, many visitors find the Museum of Islamic Civilization an interesting and informative establishment.

City Mosque

Also located in the center of the city is the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. Overlooking Likas Bay, the mosque is a man-made wonder that appears to float over the water. It demonstrates the impressive skill of Asia’s contemporary architects.

The Marlin Statue

Situated in the heart of Kota Kinabalu is a unique Marlin statue that no visitor should overlook. This famous statue sits on the waterfront against the backdrop of the island of Pulau Gaya. The Marlin is considered one of Malaysia’s most spectacular game fish, and this giant, glittering blue statue perfectly captures the essence of this sea creature. The Marlin was inaugurated in the year 2000 when Kota Kinabalu achieved city status.
